Planned Parenthood Provides Many Good Services

Bill, …please note that according to Planned Parenthood’s 2021-22 annual report, cancer screenings have dropped over 78% from the peak in 2004. Prenatal care services at Planned Parenthood also decreased – nearly 29% from the year prior.

On the other hand, Planned Parenthood has been increasing its share of the nation’s abortions – now committing around 40%.  Although we applaud the pap smears, those services can be obtained at true medical facilities who do not specialize in the killing of unborn human beings.  Abortion is Planned Parenthood’s signature “service”.

Burley, if not for Planned Parenthood’s political clout, its non-profit status would have been revoked long ago. Let’s look at the numbers. $683,697 was the salary of Alexis McGill Johnson, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood, in 2020. The average salary for the CEOs at Planned Parenthood affiliates was $317,000, according to Planned Parenthood’s most recent data.

According to ZipRecruiter as of Apr 30, 2024, the average annual pay for a non-profit CEO in the United States is $82,146 a year. Huge profiteering at the expense of the unborn and women. https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Salaries/Ceo-Non-Profit-Salary#:~:text=How%20much%20does%20a%20Ceo,%2Fweek%20or%20%246%2C845%2Fmonth.

More numbers:  Planned Parenthood’s 20-2021 Annual Report noted $1.7 billion in income and over $2.1 billion in net assets — an increase from the previous report. Planned Parenthood is big business!

Josh, to have a logical conversation we must deal in facts. Your statement that Planned Parenthood provides pregnancy services like pregnancy care centers is untrue. Planned Parenthood will not provide a pregnant woman with diapers, formula, ongoing pregnancy care, parenting classes, car seats, etc. Check out their website. The truth is there. Also, the number of non-abortion services provided at Planned Parenthood clinics decreased in nearly every major category during the 2017–18 fiscal year. Planned Parenthood’s provision of contraception decreased by 80,000, cancer screenings by 45,000, and other “women’s health services” such as well-woman exams and prenatal services decreased by 13,000. The only category of services that significantly increased was abortion procedures and tests/treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. This information is from Planned Parenthood’s own annual report. https://www.plannedparenthood.org/…/annualreport18.pdf

Planned Parenthood is about abortion – not pregnancy care…

Peggy, your accusation that those of us who defend the value of ALL lives are only promoting dominance by “cis-gendered straight males” is simply name-calling. Some of the unborn lives saved will in fact become queer females. For something as important as the defense of our foundational Right to Life let’s please stick to evidence backed discussion…

…It is the Washington Post who indicted Planned Parenthood’s statistics and called PP’s statistics “misleading”. We are simply providing their analysis as evidence. The Washington Post is a reputable, mainstream legacy newspaper. Please read the Washington post article here.

Michael, abortion is definitely big money. In its 2019-20 annual report, Planned Parenthood alone reported $1.6 billion in income and over $2.0 billion in net assets. In 2020, Planned Parenthood reported an excess of total revenue over total expenses of $110.5 million. This does not include all the revenue created by other abortion facilities. Planned Parenthood does about a third of the nation’s abortions.

That’s the difference between abortion clinics and crisis pregnancy centers. When women visit an abortion clinic in the event of an unexpected pregnancy, they are not given the informed consent they deserve. They are not informed of the severe emotional and physical effects of abortion. The abortion industry is not pro-women. The abortion industry exploits women for financial gain. According to Planned Parenthood’s Annual Report 2019-20, its excess of total revenue over total expenses was $69.7 million. https://lozierinstitute.org/fact-sheet-planned…/

Planned Parenthood is a profit-making business, whereas crisis pregnancy centers are true non-profits providing their long-term assistance and care at no charge. I encourage you to locate your local pregnancy care center and examine for yourself the care and material support provided there.
